CALHOUN COUNTY RECYCLING WEBSITE  

The Calhoun County Solid Waste Department, located at CCRC, hosts drop off recycling bins throughout the county. Two permanent bins are located at the Road Commission garages:

• Marshall Garage - 15 Mile Road south of Michigan Avenue
• Battle Creek Garage - Raymond Road south of Michigan Avenue

Marshall's hours are Monday through Friday, 6:30 am - 4:30 pm. There is also a walk-through gate for 24-hour access. Battle Creek has 24-hour access.
In addition to these permanent locations, a bin is available in the following communities once per month, on the following days:

• 2nd Saturday, Bedford Township
• 3rd Saturday, Clarence Township
• 4th Saturday, Village of Athens

Items that are accepted at the recycling bins are:

Attention Calhoun County Recyclers
Following are the items accepted at the drop-off recycling centers located at each of the Calhoun County Road Commission garages, as well as the once per month bins at the Village of Athens, Bedford Township and Clarence Township.

Paper Products:
Newspaper, including comics and inserts
Magazines & Catalogs
Corrugated Cardboard (please flatten and remove plastic and tape)
Boxboard (cereal and cracker boxes, please flatten)
Brown Grocery Bags
Telephone Books
Office & Computer Paper

Commingled Products:
#1, #2, #3, #4, #5, #7 plastic bottles, tubs, cups and jugs: Milk and water jugs, laundry and hair care product bottles with a small mouth opening. Look on bottom for #1 PETE #2 HDPE, #3PVC narrow neck containers, #4 LDPE margarine tubs, frozen desert cups, 6 and 12 pack rings, #5 PP such as yogurt cups, narrow neck syrup and ketchup bottles and #7 narrow neck containers (plastic only). Clear and color accepted. Please rinse clean and discard lids. Crush if possible. Look on bottom for number. NO PLASTIC BAGS, NO STYROFOAM, or any other type of plastic. Glass Bottles & Jars (food and beverage containers only, clear or colored)

Aluminum Foil
**Please discard lids, and clean all of the commingled containers.**

All paper products can be combined, and all commingled products can be combined, but PAPER PRODUCTS AND COMMINGLED PRODUCTS CANNOT BE MIXED TOGETHER. Please pay attention to what bin, or section of the bin is for what product. If the paper area is full, do not put your papers into the commingled section. This will contaminate the load.

At this point in time, these are the only items that are accepted. Adding anything else into the recycle bin can contaminate the load. If you are unsure whether an item can be recycled, please call 269-781-9841 before throwing it in.
Funding for the recycle bins is received from the Calhoun County Board of Commissioners from the Solid Waste Management Fund, which is generated through an agreement between Calhoun County and the C&C Landfill/BFI.

Solid Waste Department

The Calhoun County Solid Waste Department aims to reduce the county's dependence on landfills by offering recycling and composting opportunities, and by educating county residents about reducing waste, reusing resources and the importance of properly disposing of materials to prevent adverse effects on public health and the environment. Each year the Solid Waste Department offers special materials collections, special events, and can deliver presentations to your group. All solid waste management programs are funded by the Calhoun County Board of Commissioners, from the Solid Waste Management Fund, which is generated through an agreement between Calhoun County and the C&C Landfill/BFI.
