Community Compost Center

The Community Compost Center is located in Marengo Township, at 19464  Division Drive between Homer Road and 22 Mile Road on the south side of the road west of the river.  This center is available to all Calhoun County residents and is a partnership between Calhoun County, Calhoun County Road Commission and Board of Public Works, and the City of Marshall.
Currently, there is no charge for residents dropping off less than 5 cubic yards of material (1 cubic yard is approximately a small pickup truck load).  Any loads greater than 5 cubic yards will be charged a flat rate of $25.00 per load.  Items that may be dropped off at the Compost Center are: leaves, brush, grass and yard clippings.  Items may be loose or placed in the brown Kraft paper bags.  No plastic bags will be accepted.  Brush must be separated from other materials. Wood chips and mature compost are available for sale.

Policy for tree waste: All brush and limbs less than 20" in diameter should be put in the brush pile (no stumps please).  Loads must be clean and only contain tree waste  -  no treated wood, old lumber, pallets, railroad ties, etc.   Also, no concrete will be accepted.
