Board of Public Works of Calhoun County Meeting Minutes

The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works of the County of Calhoun was held Wednesday, December 15, 2004 in their office building located at 13300 Fifteen Mile Road, Marshall Michigan.

Present: Commissioner David D. Veramay, Chairperson

Commissioner Albert C. Bobrofsky, Vice-Chairperson

Commissioner Chester E. Travis, Member

Dennis A. Randolph, Managing Director

Carole S. Tabiadon, Deputy Managing Director – Clerk

Joanna I. Johnson, Assistant Managing Director

Angela Kline, Assistant County Highway Engineer

Chairperson Veramay called the meeting to order at 10:04 a.m. There being no additions or corrections to the regular meeting minutes of November 17, 2004 they stand approved as printed and distributed.

NEW BUSINESS

Moved by Commissioner Travis and supported by Commissioner Bobrofsky to approve the 2005 Calhoun County Board of Public Works Meeting Schedule. Voice vote: Motion carried.

CALHOUN COUNTY BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS

Meeting Schedule 2005

Meetings held immediately following the Road Commission Meetings at 9:00 a.m.

January 19, 2005 February 16, 2005 March 16, 2005 April 20, 2005

May 18, 2005 June 15, 2005 July 20, 2005 August 17, 2005

September 21, 2005 October 19, 2005 November 16, 2005 December 21, 2005

Moved by Commissioner Travis and supported by Commissioner Bobrofsky to approve the 2005 Calhoun County Board of Public Works Fee Schedule. Voice vote: Motion carried.

OTHER BUSINESS

Mr. Randolph said that:

•  Tiffany Eichorst and the Solid Waste Department received two awards from the American Public Works Association (A.P.W.A.). One was for the Pollution Incident Prevention Plan (P.I.P.P.) and the other was for the Crushed Concrete Crushing and Recycling, using the concrete removed from the I-69 reconstruction.

•  Tiffany Eichorst would be submitting an Anti-Littering Ordinance to the County Board. This is the comments period, so if the Board sees any changes that need to be made to let her know.

•  He attended a meeting with Parma Township regarding the Albion connection. They do not want anyone dumping lagoon effluents into Rice Creek either. Senator Schauer indicated he would like to meet with us and MDEQ. Notices have been sent to several homes regarding the high levels of salt in their drinking water; bottled water has been provided to one home. The County Drain Commissioner is assisting with contact and meetings to be held in Charlotte.

Eugene Hamaker, Marshall Township Supervisor, stated that this agency had the most marvelous staff of people and it reflects on the director. They are high quality people.

Tom Frank, Albion Township Supervisor, said that he seconded that statement.

Chairperson Veramay announced that the next regular meeting of the Board of Public Works is scheduled for Wednesday, January 19, 2005 immediately following the Road Commission Meeting at 9:00 a.m. There being no additional business before the Board, the meeting was adjourned at 10:16 a.m.
