PARKS AND RECREATION DIRECTOR’S REPORT
Mrs. Chapman provided the Board with the following information:
Mrs. Chapman reported she met with the Health Department and they performed a sanitary survey of the restrooms at Kimball Pines as well as the Marshall garage for class 2 type wells. Calhoun County Road Commission is now in a program to monitor these wells quarterly. Mrs. Chapman stated we need an operator classification to monitor these well, so we will be having someone from our organization get certified.
Mrs. Chapman reported that the Silver Leaf Renaissance Faire organization cancelled the Octoberfest event due to some vandalism at Kimball Pines Park, as well as preparation for the event.
Mrs. Chapman reported the Custer Greens Golf Course notices have been sent to the VA and also to the vendors. We are currently working on a plan to remove our equipment.
The Charlotte Highway Bridge is proceeding and bids for the abutment came back over the engineering estimate. Management will put this on hold for this next year due to budget constraints.
Mrs. Chapman stated that we received our first check from the Silver Leaf Renaissance Faire and it was over $4,900, which was more than expected. We have also billed them for the use of the utilities.
COMMISSIONER’S COMMENTS
Commissioner Monaweck said that he was in Kimball Pines and was amazed at how many people use the park for exercise. He reported that a stump was sticking up in the parking lot and thinks it should be removed.
Chairperson Monaweck announced that the next regular meeting of the Board of Park Trustees is scheduled for Wednesday, November 15, 2006 immediately following the 9:00 a.m. Calhoun County Board of Road Commissioners meeting. There being no additional business before the Board, the meeting was adjourned at 9:12 a.m.
