CCCD Departments

This spring, the City of Battle Creek in conjunction with the Calhoun County Solid Waste Department and the Climate Change Coalition, conducted an Environmental Survey. The survey was conducted in order to understand the awareness and perceptions of environmental issues that exist in the greater Battle Creek area.
A number of respondents stated they do reduce, reuse, or recycle. The awareness level of the importance of protecting groundwater and surface water of respondents was significant. Many who took the survey were aware of climate change and were aware of ways to conserve energy.

Improving the awareness and perceptions of citizens about local environmental issues is critical for all who make their homes in the greater Battle Creek Area. Several groups are actively working to ensure the protection of our local environment. The Battle Creek Area Clean Water Partners are focused on protecting the water resources of our area and to help restore our rivers and lakes to the wildlife habitats and recreational uses once common in the area.

Please join the Partners, the County Solid Waste Department, and the Climate Change Coalition in their efforts.  Contact the Partners at 269-781-9841, extension 241 for ways you can protect the local environment.
